As the internet has become a more popular source for online shopping, regrettably we have seen more and more instances of fraud affecting online shoppers. We have chosen the higher road. We are members in good standing of the Better Business Bureau and our local Chamber of Commerce.
A Price Too Good to be True, It Usually Is.
If you've ever searched for a product on the web, you may have asked yourself, "Why are the stores I know of charging so much more than some of these other stores I've never hear of ?"
Our customers often share these stories with us, so we thought we would share a few with you, in hopes that you don't fall prey to any of these unscrupulous sales tactics.
Goods may be gray market. They may state that the product includes the manufacturer warranty, but not tell you that the warranty is valid only in Europe, Japan, or South America, and NOT in Canada.
If you have called a company and the person answering the phone sounds like Mom, and you hear "Jeff, the phone is for you" faintly in the background. We would not call this a sales tactic, rather a very clear sign this business is not here for you !
You may be asked to buy an expensive extended warranty. In many cases if you do not purchase the warranty, your purchase will be denied. (The product is now out of stock, your card does not go through, etc.)
Included parts may be sold to you separately. Some resellers will open boxes and charge extra for parts that are normally included by the manufacturer. We have heard of power cords, lamps (the original not a spare), filters, etc. being sold this way.
Hidden charges which don't show up until your credit card statement arrives. Unscrupulous resellers will add taxes (even when purchased out of province), insurance (at a much higher cost), and other handling charges not listed on your original invoice. These charges only show up when your credit card statement is sent to you.
Unfair return policies. Be mindful of restocking fees, and rules that do not allow for returns even when the item is not opened, or is damaged.
So how do you protect yourself from online fraud?
Buy from an authorized reseller. If you are at all suspicious, you should be able to contact the manufacturer directly and ask if a company is authorized to sell their products.
Ask for a written quote with the total price. This will help you win an argument with your credit card company more easily, and may deter some fraudsters from proceeding with a scam transaction.

With Canon LCOS projectors, you get all the brilliance and image sharpness of innovative LCOS technology, but in an ultra-portable and affordable projector unlike any others on the market.
LCOS -- or Liquid Crystal On Silicon -- has taken projectors to a whole new level. Keystone Correction lets you project a perfect image by correcting for keystone distortion of +/- 20 degrees horizontally or vertically. Plus, depending on your requirements, you can use it for rear-projection, or you can mount it on the ceiling with an optional Ceiling Mount Adapter.
The SX60's new Auto Setup feature is quick and accurate. With the touch of a button, it only takes seconds to setup:
Auto Focus -- your SX60 measures the distance to the screen and makes your projected image razor-sharp
Auto Input -- the projector automatically detects the input port
Auto Keystone -- keystone correction is automatically applied
Auto Screen Colour Correction -- the projector automatically compensates for the colour of the projection surface
Once it's set up, operating your projector is easy with the help of Guidance Functions that display operating instructions in an on-screen window. For example, it lets you know when your projector doesn't detect an input signal. A Graphical User Interface also makes for easy operation, with three menus for quick access to display settings, image adjustments and system settings. Its well thought-out command hierarchy means you're never more than three steps away from any adjustment or operation you need to make. The SX60 even has features that make it simple to turn off. You never have to wait for the projector to cool down before unplugging it and heading to your next meeting -- the projector's fan continues to operate, powered by an internal charging system. You can also turn the projector off simply by unplugging it -- a convenient feature when the projector is mounted on the ceiling and can't be operated directly. Finally, when you're finished using your SX60, you can use the Pin Code Lock and Function Key Lock to control its use.
You can even operate your projector -- and receive alerts -- through a LAN with the optional Network Adapter.

The SX60's DVI-I terminal gives you a true digital connection -- from source to display. Since it conforms to HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital Copy Protection), you can use your SX60 to project high quality video from satellite and digital cable boxes, as well as DVD players -- without any reduction in image quality. (The terminal also accepts an analog signal from your laptop computer, and devices with a VGA terminal.)

Your projection screen is your canvas with the SX60's unparalleled colour control. An easy-to-use Graphical User Interface lets you adjust your palette of colours to paint the picture you want for your audience.
With Memory/Vivid Colour Correction, you can adjust the degree of vividness of each of the primary colours (red, green, blue) and each of the secondary colours (cyan, magenta, yellow). Choose between low, medium, and high to project the image the way you remember it.
