A Price Too Good to be True, It Usually Is.
If you've ever searched for a product on the web, you may have asked yourself, "Why are the stores I know of charging so much more than some of these other stores I've never hear of ?"
Our customers often share these stories with us, so we thought we would share a few with you, in hopes that you don't fall prey to any of these unscrupulous sales tactics.
Goods may be gray market. They may state that the product includes the manufacturer warranty, but not tell you that the warranty is valid only in Europe, Japan, or South America, and NOT in Canada.
If you have called a company and the person answering the phone sounds like Mom, and you hear "Jeff, the phone is for you" faintly in the background. We would not call this a sales tactic, rather a very clear sign this business is not here for you !
You may be asked to buy an expensive extended warranty. In many cases if you do not purchase the warranty, your purchase will be denied. (The product is now out of stock, your card does not go through, etc.)
Included parts may be sold to you separately. Some resellers will open boxes and charge extra for parts that are normally included by the manufacturer. We have heard of power cords, lamps (the original not a spare), filters, etc. being sold this way.
Hidden charges which don't show up until your credit card statement arrives. Unscrupulous resellers will add taxes (even when purchased out of province), insurance (at a much higher cost), and other handling charges not listed on your original invoice. These charges only show up when your credit card statement is sent to you.
Unfair return policies. Be mindful of restocking fees, and rules that do not allow for returns even when the item is not opened, or is damaged.
So how do you protect yourself from online fraud?
Buy from an authorized reseller. If you are at all suspicious, you should be able to contact the manufacturer directly and ask if a company is authorized to sell their products.
Ask for a written quote with the total price. This will help you win an argument with your credit card company more easily, and may deter some fraudsters from proceeding with a scam transaction.

JVC's DLA-RS10U establishes a new benchmark in performance and value. It's built with the same core technologies and many of the same features found in JVC's other highly acclaimed D-ILA projectors, and breaks new ground in brightness, contrast, color accuracy, black levels and ease of use. At the core, are three 0.7-inch 1080p D-ILA devices, a new optical system that utilizes wire-grid polarizers, and a new 2x lens with a 3 step fixed aperture. Together they produce brighter images with a stunning native contrast ratio of up to 32,000:1 . Whether this is your first projector, or an upgrade, you'll appreciate the sleek, new DLA-RS10's natural, high contrast pictures without rainbow or screen door effects seen in competitors' models.
1,000 lumen brightness with three step aperture
Thanks to a new optical system combined with a highly efficient lamp, a brightness of 1,000 lumens has been achieved. This allows viewing in environments where there may be some ambient light, and for a wide variety of screen sizes. JVC has added a 3-step Aperture Brightness Control that allows users to achieve lower brightness levels to adjust for varying conditions. The Aperture Brightness Control also serves to further enhance the native contrast ratio.
High Native Contrast Ratio—up to 32,000:1
Native Contrast ratio is the intrinsic ability of the projector to show the complete range of image contrast simultaneously. D-ILA devices inherently have a very high contrast ratio—one reason why JVC projectors have consistently been able to reproduce such high contrast scenes. In the DLA-RS10, JVC changed the structural design of the optical section from a conventional L-shape to a straight configuration helped to reduce light leakage. The enhanced wire grid optical engine dramatically improves the precision of light polarization, helping to prevent light spilling onto the projection lens. These new technologies combined with the 3-step Aperture Brightness Control virtually eliminate unwanted light that reduces contrast.
Full 1920 x 1080 0.7-in D-ILA devices (x 3)
D-ILA™ is a proprietary JVC technology based on Liquid Crystal on Silicon. JVC has been able to achieve a significant reduction in stray light at the chip level caused by phenomena such as the dispersion and diffraction of reflected light. JVC succeeded in decreasing orientation irregularities by reducing the gaps between pixels, adopting improved liquid crystals and other innovative technologies.
New compact chassis, automatic lens cover
The chassis in the DLA-RS10U has been redesigned giving it a sleek new look with connections on the left side rather that on the back. Its shiny black cabinet looks great in any upscale home theater, and it's much quieter than previous models--around 19dB. A unique automatic lens cover opens and closes with power on/off to protect against dust, so even if the projector is installed up on the ceiling, you're assured of easy, trouble-free operation via the remote controller.
High-Performance 2x motorized zoom lens
The DLA-RS10U is equipped with a new 17 element lens that uses ED (extra low dispersion) glass, producing very minimal chromatic aberration. The lens has a motorized focus and 2x zoom that can be controlled from the wireless remote. New motor driven lens offsets provide a wide range of positioning options. An ±80% vertical offset will allow it to be mounted above the top of the screen without inverting the projector. A ±34% horizontal lens shift accommodates a wide range of installation irregularities. You could, for instance, install the projector in a wall unit or on a shelf at the rear of the room, and not necessarily centered on the screen. Alignment to the screen can be easily accomplished using the remote control.
HQV processor
The DLA-RS10U uses a new HQV Reon-VX video processor developed by Silicon Optix to ensure excellent image reproduction with precision I/P conversion and scaling. This is true 10 bit 4:4:4 processing that removes any jaggies or stair stepping artifacts without blurring the image. Per pixel adaptave noise reduction detects and reduces analog and MPEG noise—particularly mosquito and block noise generated in more highly compressed sources such as cable and satellite. Pixel-by-pixel detail enhancement can actually make many standard definition DVDs look like high def. This is seen in images with blades of grass, textures on clothing and wrinkles on faces.
Four-field motion adaptive deinterlacing
Deinterlacing is very important since a significant amount of programming is distributed in the 1080 interlace format. Interlace was fine back in the days of CRT devices, but with microdisplay products, the signal must be converted into progressive. The quality of the deinterlacer has a big impact on the final picture quality. The DLA-RS10U features a deinterlacer that looks at each individual pixel in a 4 field sequence. There's no loss of resolution as with conventional deinterlacers.
Customized on-screen gamma control
Manual adjustment of the gamma curve is possible via an on-screen display, allowing the viewer to adjust projector luminance levels by either increasing contrast in scenes that are too dark or dimming washed-out scenes to ensure precise brightness levels suited to individual preferences. Up to three settings can be adjusted and stored for future use.
Highly Accurate Color Filters reproduce outstandingly vivid colors
JVC uses newly designed filters to extract red, blue, and green colors with extremely high purity. This suppresses excessive light frequency bands that prevent color purity, broadening the red color space. Thanks to the outstanding color rendition range, which exceeds approximately 170% of the SMPTE HDTV standards, the color reproduction of minute differences in red colors seen in plants or nature such as in sunsets or roses combines with expression of colors closer to the real colors to create truly superb images.
External triggers for screen and lens control
The DLA-RS10U features an external 12-volt trigger that can be used to automatically raise and lower a screen or draw curtains. A second trigger can be activated while simultaneously to engage the V-Stretch mode and to move an optional anamorphic wide screen lens system into place.

Upgrade your projection system from "letterbox" wide screen imaging to a high performance 2.35:1 cinema. Panamorph UH480 anamorphic add-on lens.
There are three steps to creating a constant height 2.35:1 home theatre system. (Theatre systems where the height of the image is maintained when switching between the 16:9 aspect ratio of high def TV and the 2.35:1 aspect ratio of movies.) Gets rid of the grey bars!
The first step is to stretch the 2.35:1 image vertically to fully utilize the entire pixel structure of a 16:9 DLP chip. Most 1080P projectors support the vertical stretch feature that is required of projectors that are used in constant height home theatre systems, If you are not sure that it supports this mode, just ask us!
The second step is to deploy a 1.33 anamorphic lens to restore the image to a full 2.35:1 aspect ratio with 20% higher resolution and image brightness. This is the function of the Panamorh UH480 Lens.
The third step is to make sure that you have a 2.35:1 aspect ratio masking screen, We have several manufactures to chose from, many offering both Fixed Wall and Electric screen options.
If you have questions on how to create a 2.35 constant height theatre system, give us a call toll-free at 1-866-764-4580. You can find additional information about 2.35:1 in our FAQ Area
